Privacy Policy

Skip the Chit Chat ("we," "our," or "us") helps people meet in real life through shared activities. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use our mobile app and website (the "Service"). It matches the privacy policy inside the app.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email if you choose that). Google also shares your profile picture.
• Profile information: The details you choose to share, such as interests, gender, age range, pronouns, your city, and any photos you upload for your profile or activities.
• Activity data: Activities you create, join, or book.
• Messages: Messages you send through in-app chat with other people going to the same activity.
• Device information: If you enable notifications, a push notification token used to deliver them.
• Payment information: Handled by Stripe. See section 6.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking in the app.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To run your account and show your profile and activities to other users.
• To let you find, book, and coordinate activities and chat with the people attending.
• To send notifications about activities you have joined, if you opt in.
• To keep the Service safe by enforcing our community rules and responding to reports.
• To contact you about your account, bookings, or support requests.

3. What We Share

We do not sell your personal information. Your first name, interests, and any photos you upload are visible to other users as part of your profile and activities, by design. We share limited data with service providers that help us run the Service, under obligations to protect it:

• Stripe for payment processing (see section 6).
• Cloud hosting providers that store our data.
• Push notification delivery services (Apple and Google).
• Expo for delivering app updates.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users or others.

4. Sign in with Google and Apple

We use Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple to authenticate you. Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Sign in with Apple to Apple's Privacy Policy. We request only your basic profile information and do not access your contacts, email, or other account data.

5. Push Notifications

Notifications are optional. If you enable them, we use a device push token to send you updates about your activities and messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device Settings.

6. Payment Information

For activities that require a card to reserve a spot, card details are collected and stored directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We place a temporary hold (authorization) on your card; it is released if you attend and may be charged if you are marked as a no-show. We keep only what we need to reference your saved card (a Stripe token) and the outcome of each hold (authorized, released, or charged) so we can show you the status of a booking. Stripe's handling of your data is described in Stripe's Privacy Policy.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time in the app from Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, uploaded photos, and chat history from our active systems. You can also request deletion by emailing tony@skipthechitchat.com, or see step-by-step instructions. Payment records held by Stripe are retained by Stripe under its own policies and legal obligations.

8. Your Choices

• Notifications: turn them off any time in your device Settings.
• Profile: you control which optional details and photos you share.
• Account deletion: in the app under Settings, or by emailing us.
• Payment method: manage your saved card from Settings → Payment method.

9. Children's Privacy

Skip the Chit Chat is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the date at the top of this page, and continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
